John Campbell vs Ken Ring

Was John Campbell rude to Ken Ring ? Is Ken Ring just out of this world ? Scientists and geologists have said that Ken Ring's theory about the possibility of another quake in New Zealand around the 20th March this year is completely false.

In just the last three weeks, earthquake struck Canterbury, China and now Japan,  and there was a volcanic eruption in Indonesia  What is actually happening ?

Is this a case of public policy vs individual rights ?  It is public policy against creating a national panic situation.  Is this the main reason why Ken Ring was ridiculed ?  Or is he really a nonsensical guy ?  Should we allow NZ public to decide on this as it is our individual right to be heard and also to know all facts pertaining to New Zealand's state of affairs ?

  1. Purely commenting on the interview which was followed by a public apology from John Campbell to Ken Ring, I didn't think it was warranted. Living in Christchurch-east, as I do, and then also hearing of a sizeable exodus of people understandably heeding mr Rings words and leaving the city for the weekend for fear of another sizeable quake (which didn't happen, there was a 5.1 but it was whimpy), I can't help but think of Ken Ring as being like a terrorist : he told this city/province that they should stay away from the city on an exact date or else potentially suffer death or injury in an event HE foresaw.

What he foresaw, I'm under the impression, was simply a moon which appeared bigger in the sky or was actually (not sure which) and basically thought that meant we, in Canterbury, were all doomed.

I'm also under the impression that the thoroughly awful quake which happened in Japan lay on the same fault as the one here in Christchurch, so wouldn't that naysayers words also potentially have applied to the Japanese?

I think this man is guilty of insiting public terror by his rants on Campbell Live, and also John Campbell was likely thinking of the intimidation Ring was creating, which perhaps fuelled his unprofessional conduct - Campbell was trying to silence someone who (I felt) almost appeared elated while delivering his bad omen in that interview (and he was smiling very enthusiastically, I thought).

Where, now, is Ken Rings apology to the people of Canterbury who've lost homes, possibly people they've also known, those who listened to the prediction and left town and possibly also left their homes open to being burglarised during the weekend, and where also is his apology to John Campbell, who was (I think) vindicated by the whole non event which was mr Rings prediction?

I stayed at home, in Christchurch east last night, and slept as well as I have on any other night these past few weeks - slightly concerned over mr Rings words, but not convinced they would happen.

I should think it's now Ken Rings turn to apologise to John Campbell.
